QR.io alternative

QR.io sells a single plan with unlimited codes after a 7-day trial. Its help center says dynamic codes are paused when the trial ends and when a subscription is cancelled. Here is how it compares with QRTada, as of September 25, 2026.

QR.io's pricing page shows a dollar sign without naming the currency, and its FAQ sentence on billing currency is incomplete on the page we read. The annual price was shown as $350 next to a struck-through $479. The trial page did not say whether a card is required, so we do not state it either way.

The differences that matter

  • One plan versus three: QR.io has a single plan with unlimited codes. If you need hundreds of codes, its price per code can be low. If you need a few dozen, QRTada Starter at $9 a month covers 25 dynamic codes.
  • Monthly cost at entry: $39.99 a month at QR.io on monthly billing, $9 a month at QRTada for the entry plan.
  • Team seats: QR.io includes 5 team members on its plan. Team size on QRTada depends on the plan.
  • After you stop: QR.io pauses dynamic codes until you subscribe again; QRTada keeps codes from paid periods redirecting for life.

What happens to your codes after the trial and after you cancel?

QR.io's help center says that when the free trial expires "you will not be able to access scans and statistics. Dynamic QR codes will be paused", and that they are reactivated when you upgrade. The reactivation must happen on the same account: it is "not possible to reactivate a QR Code by creating a new account". Its refund policy adds: "After you cancel your membership, your QR Codes will go into paused mode and you can activate them again whenever you want by resubscribing." Static codes, it notes, do not expire.

QRTada pauses trial codes too, and says so: if you cancel before your first payment, they show an interstitial page with a button to their destination, and come back as direct redirects when you pay. The difference is after payment: from your first payment, every code created or edited during a paid period keeps redirecting to its last destination with no time limit, even after you cancel. Cancelling and refunds

QR.io lets you cancel from the Billing section of your account, or from its cancel page by entering the email address you subscribed with. Its refund policy offers a full refund within 7 days of the initial purchase; after that, a monthly plan stays active until the end of the billing cycle with no further charges, and refunds do not apply to renewals. We did not find an explicit renewal clause in its terms of service. At QRTada, you cancel online and it takes effect at the end of the period you paid for.

When QR.io may suit you

If you create a very large number of codes, work as a team of up to five, and intend to stay subscribed for as long as the codes are printed, a single unlimited plan is simple to budget. If you want to test for a week, the 7-day refund window after purchase also gives some room. What matters is the paused state after cancellation: plan the budget for as long as your printed codes stay in circulation.

Switching to QRTada

  1. List your codes and destinations in QR.io, while your plan is active or after reactivating it.
  2. Recreate the codes in QRTada, one by one or by CSV import on Pro (up to 100 per batch).
  3. Reprint your materials: a printed code points to QR.io's domain, and no other service can take it over.
  4. Check each new code with the QR code checker, and if a simple link is all you need, see the URL QR code generator.

How we built this comparison

Information comes from QR.io's pricing page, FAQ, help center and refund policy, checked on September 25, 2026 and listed as sources. We review this page quarterly and remove anything that becomes inaccurate. QRTada is not affiliated with QR.io. Spotted an error? Contact us.

Your codes keep working, even if you stop paying

Every code you create or edit on a paid plan keeps redirecting to its last destination, forever: the guarantee applies from your first payment.

Static codes are included in every plan, and 1 static code stays free without a plan: they rely on no server and never expire.
