How the gallery works
Images do not fit inside a QR code, so the code holds a short link to a page hosted by QRTada in Germany. The page lays your photos out in a grid, opens each one full screen with a tap, and swipes from one to the next. Because the link never changes, you can keep refreshing the gallery for months with the same printed code.
| Item | Limit | In practice |
|---|---|---|
| Number of images | 1 to 30 | A curated selection, not a full album |
| Size per image | 5 MB max at upload | A recent smartphone photo fits |
| Formats | JPG, PNG, WebP | Converted and compressed automatically |
| Total storage | By plan, from 20 MB on the trial to 20 GB | Shared with your PDFs and pages |
Every image is resized and converted to WebP or AVIF on upload, and its EXIF data (where it was taken, camera model) is stripped. The page stays light: thumbnails load first, the full image only when someone taps it.
What about video?
The gallery does not host video files: a two-minute clip often weighs over 100 MB, too heavy to stream comfortably on cellular data. Upload the video to YouTube or Vimeo, then make a URL QR code. On YouTube you can even start playback at a given moment by adding ?t=90 to the address, for 90 seconds in.
To show both photos and a video, a link page puts a gallery button and a video button behind a single code.
Uses that work
- Contractor or photographer portfolio: on a business card, a few finished jobs say more than a paragraph.
- Product on a shelf: the product assembled, in use, or in every available color.
- Property showcase: key rooms on a yard sign or an office window.
- Event memories: the best shots of a party, shared with guests afterwards.
Showing photos vs collecting guest photos
Two needs often get mixed up. The QRTada gallery shows photos you picked. If you want to receive photos from guests, at a wedding for instance, you need a shared album where anyone can upload, such as a Google Photos shared album or an iCloud shared album with a public link. Point the QR code at that album. The wedding page walks through the setup.
Common mistakes
- Dark or blurry shots: on a small screen, three great images beat thirty average ones.
- Photos of people without consent: anyone who scans can see the gallery. Ask before posting a face.
- No title: without context, people do not know what they are looking at. Add one line.
The gallery is one of the advanced page types on Pro. Try it during the 7-day Pro trial for $0.
Sizing the code for where it lives
A gallery code usually sits on something people hold: a card, a product tag, a thank-you note. At 8 to 12 inches, 0.8 to 1 inch is enough because the code only holds a short link. On a yard sign or a shop window read from the sidewalk, go for 4 to 8 inches. Write what people will see under the code, like "See 12 finished kitchens", so the scan feels worth it.
Your codes keep working, even if you stop paying
Every code you create or edit on a paid plan keeps redirecting to its last destination, forever.
Static codes are included in every plan: they rely on no server and never expire.
