Why a PDF code is always dynamic
A PDF will not fit in a QR code. Even a one-page flyer weighs tens of kilobytes, while a QR code tops out at 2,953 bytes. So the code holds a short link such as qrtada.com/k7Rp2x, which opens the file stored on our servers in Germany. That link is what makes the code dynamic: you swap the file, the link stays put.
You pick how the file opens: in a mobile-friendly viewer with a title on top, or as a direct download. The viewer is the better default, because a download often lands in a folder people never open again.

File size matters more than most people expect. A 40 MB PDF can take half a minute to open on an average LTE connection, and most people give up before that. Aim for under 5 MB: export images at "screen" quality (150 dpi) and drop the pages a scanner does not need, such as the back cover or a blank page.
Replacing the file

Google Drive link or hosted file?
You can paste a Google Drive link into a URL QR code. Two traps catch people every week. Sharing must be set to "Anyone with the link", or visitors hit a sign-in wall. And uploading a new version in Drive often creates a new link, which no longer matches the printed code. Hosting the file with QRTada avoids both, and counts every open in your scan stats.
Mistakes that lose readers
- A letter-size layout on a phone: tiny text and sideways scrolling. Make a single-column version with 12 pt text or larger.
- A private share link: visitors see a login page instead of your document.
- A replaced file with a new URL: the printed code keeps pointing at the old file, which may be deleted.
For a restaurant menu, the hosted menu page usually beats a PDF: dishes and prices read without pinching to zoom. Compare with the menu QR code.

What is the maximum file size?
It depends on your storage: 20 MB on the trial, 200 MB on Starter, 2 GB on Pro. For readers, keep each document under 5 MB.
Does the PDF stay online if I cancel?

Can I see how many people opened it?
Yes. Every scan is counted with its date and country, without cookies. Pro adds time of day, device and operating system.
Can I password-protect the PDF?
On Pro, the code can ask for a password before showing the document.
Can I host a PDF with an embedded form?
Yes as long as it is not encrypted and holds no JavaScript: those files are refused for security. Fillable fields are best replaced by an online form linked from the PDF.
