The six templates and what each one is for
| Template | Code type | Where it goes | Minimum size |
|---|---|---|---|
| Holiday menu | Restaurant menu | Table tent, scanned from 12 in | 1.2 in |
| Christmas offer | Coupon | Shop window, scanned from 3 ft | 4 in |
| Christmas market or party | Event | Tabloid poster, scanned from 5 ft | 6 in |
| Holiday card | Website (link to a video) | Card inside an envelope | 1 in |
| Holiday hours | Front door, scanned from 20 in | 2 in | |
| Post-holiday review | Google review | Receipt or gift bag | 1 in |
Sizes follow the rule of thumb of about one unit of code width for every ten units of scanning distance, and never below 0.8 in. For anything else, the size calculator redoes the math with your distance and link length.
Red and green that still scan
A scanner looks for a difference in brightness between the modules and the background, not for color. Christmas red and green both work well on white, but never on top of each other. Here are the contrast ratios of our template colors, computed with the same WCAG formula the designer uses:
| Module color | Background | Contrast | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fir green | White | 8.2:1 | Scans reliably |
| Holly red | White | 6.9:1 | Scans reliably |
| Dark gold | Cream | 6.0:1 | Scans reliably |
| Midnight blue | White | 12.4:1 | Scans reliably |
| Holly red | Fir green | 1.2:1 | Unreadable, blocked by the designer |
The designer blocks downloads below 3:1 and warns you between 3 and 4.5:1. Every template on this page stays above 4.5:1 because the festive color lives in the frame and the corner eyes, not in the background.
Print in November, keep it working through January
Holiday signage is meant for a few weeks, yet it tends to stay up much longer: the table tent stays on the table, the poster stays on the door. With a dynamic QR code, the same printed code changes its job over the season, with no reprint:
- Until December 24: the Christmas Eve menu, pickup slots for pre-orders, or the market schedule.
- Between the holidays: modified hours and closing days.
- In January: your New Year offer, the regular menu, or the link to leave a review.
On the Pro plan you can schedule those switches ahead of time, down to the hour. And if you cancel once the season is over, codes created while you were paying keep redirecting to their last destination: that is the lifetime guarantee.
Foil, glitter and specialty paper
Holiday print loves shiny finishes; phone cameras do not. Hot foil or metallic ink bounces light back and can wash out part of the pattern under store lighting. Print the code itself in matte ink, away from spot varnish, and keep the foil for the frame or the call to action. On kraft or glitter stock, put the code on a white label: an uneven background confuses the scanner.
Before you send it to the printer
- Scan the proof with two different phones, at the real distance, under the real lighting.
- Keep the quiet zone clear: at least 4 empty modules around the code, no garland or pattern spilling in.
- Test the destination: the menu or PDF should open fast on a phone on cellular data, in a crowded market.
- Run the file through a checker: the QR code checker measures contrast and module size.
For a seasonal discount, the coupon QR code guide covers expiry dates and redemption limits. For a market or a party, the event QR code page explains add-to-calendar.
Your codes keep working, even if you stop paying
Every code you create or edit on a paid plan keeps redirecting to its last destination, forever: the guarantee applies from your first payment.
Static codes are included in every plan, and 1 static code stays free without a plan: they rely on no server and never expire.

Are these Christmas templates free?
You can open any template in the designer and set up your code without an account. Downloading needs an account: without a plan you get 1 free static code; editable codes come with the 7-day trial for $0.
Can I change a template's colors?
Yes, a template is only a starting point. The designer checks contrast on every change and blocks a setting that would not scan.
Can I add my logo to a Christmas template?
Yes. Error correction then switches to the highest level, and the logo has to stay under 30% of the code area.
What happens to the code after the holidays?
An editable code can point to a new destination at any time. A static code keeps whatever is written into its pattern.
