QR codes for hotels and B&Bs

In the room, a QR code replaces the binder nobody reads: WiFi, hours, services, dining, things to do. At the front desk, another one collects reviews at checkout.

The digital guest directory

The laminated binder in the room is rarely current: breakfast hours changed, spa closed for renovation, a new partner restaurant. A link page behind a QR code updates in a minute, for every room at once. Order it by the questions guests actually ask: WiFi, breakfast, checkout, amenities, nearby.

For international guests, the menu and event pages support English and French with a language switch at the top. For the directory, one link page per language with two codes side by side remains the clearest option.

WiFi for the whole property

A WiFi QR code is always static: it holds the password. If your guest network password rotates weekly, you will reprint; prefer an isolated guest network with a stable password, separate from front desk and point-of-sale systems. A business-card-sized room card with a 1.25 inch code is plenty.

Room service and the hotel restaurant

Printed in-room dining menus are expensive to redo with every price change. A menu page behind a code on the room card or in the elevator updates for the whole hotel at once, with allergens per dish and a French version for international guests. On Pro, the menu can switch automatically by time: breakfast in the morning, dinner from 5 pm. Guests still call the front desk to order: the code informs, it does not replace service.

Keeping cards clean and current

Room cards get handled by every guest, so pick a rigid, wipeable format: laminated cardstock or an acrylic stand with a paper insert. Housekeeping can check them during turnover along with the TV remote. Review the directory at every season change, and after any renovation or new partnership. Because the code is dynamic, the review takes five minutes at a desk instead of a reprint run for every room. Scan one card per floor after each update to confirm the page opens quickly on the hotel WiFi, which is where most guests will load it.

Reviews at checkout

The best time to ask for a review is checkout, when the stay is complete. A code on a front desk stand plus the same link in the checkout email covers both situations. Google and Tripadvisor forbid incentives: no discount on the next stay in exchange for a review.

B&Bs and small properties

For a B&B, one code in the entryway often does it all: WiFi, breakfast hours, local tips and the review link. If you also rent short-term, the Airbnb guide covers self check-in instructions.

Your codes keep working, even if you stop paying

Every code you create or edit on a paid plan keeps redirecting to its last destination, forever.

Static codes are included in every plan: they rely on no server and never expire.

Frequently asked questions

Can the guest directory be in several languages?

Yes: one page per language with its own code, or menu and event pages written in English and French.

Do I need a WiFi QR code per room?

No, one code for the guest network, printed on every room card, is enough.

Can I update the directory without reprinting?

Yes, that is the point of a page behind a dynamic code.

Can I offer a discount for a review?

No, Google and Tripadvisor forbid it, and the FTC's review rule bans conditioning incentives on sentiment.
